The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service. Commencing in 1978, BRAMS was the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia. BRAMS is governed by a Board of Directors elected by its members.
BRAMS provides comprehensive, holistic and culturally responsive primary health care services to Aboriginal people living in Broome.

About the Opportunity
BRAMS have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Family Support Worker to join their close-knit team on a full-time fixed term basis until 13th January 2023.
The Family Support Worker works with the Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) Allied Health Team to provide early childhood support services for children living with disability or developmental delay up to the age of 7 years. The Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) Allied Health Team provides allied healthcare and advice. The Family Support Worker translates this information to ensure the health messages are understood, supports the delivery of the services and helps facilitate the interaction between individuals, family groups, and the community.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Communicate with families and children openly and with respect for differences in personal, family and cultural beliefs and value.
- Assist in increasing the uptake of existing and new children with possible developmental delay obtaining Early Childhood Support services.
- Liaise with the Marketing and Events Officer to develop any culturally appropriate health education resources.
- Work closely with the ECEI Allied Health Team and the clinic personnel.
- Coordinate care for families in liaison with existing services and the ECEI Allied Health Team.
