About the Organisation

The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service. Commencing in 1978, BRAMS was the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia. BRAMS is governed by a Board of Directors elected by its members.

BRAMS provides comprehensive, holistic and culturally responsive primary health care services to Aboriginal people living in Broome.

About the Kimberley Region

The Kimberley region is located in the northern part of Western Australia and covers about 421,000 square kilometres.

The Kimberley has only three towns with a population of more than 2,000 (Broome, Derby and Kununurra), and the total population is around 37,000. In addition to the sealed Route 1 which runs along the southern part of the area, the unsealed Gibb River Road runs through the heart of the region from Derby to the highway near Kununurra.

Industries in the region have included pearling (a big industry in Broome for many years until the 1940s), mining (including the Argyle Diamond mine, which began operation in 1983 and is still producing about 1/3 of the world’s diamonds), agriculture (centred on the Ord River Irrigation Area near Lake Argyle) and tourism. The geology of the area is varied and fascinating, as well as producing some spectacular scenery.

About the Opportunity

BRAMS have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance and Compliance Officer to join their close-knit team on a full-time basis. The Finance and Compliance Officer reports to the Finance Team Leader and works in partnership with the Aged and Disability Operations Manager on aged and disability services administration, billing and collections. The Finance and Compliance Officer is responsible for the administration of service agreements, bookings and billings.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Liaison with the Intake and Assessment Officer to ensure accurate information is obtained;
  • Monitoring consumer data across multiple systems including Commcare, PRODA, My Aged Care Portal and Reckon;
  • Establishing and updating service bookings in line with service agreements;
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc reports to the Finance Team Leader and Aged and Disability Operations Manager;
  • Prepare and send monthly statements as required;
  • Assist the Finance Team Leader to identify, establish, improve and maintain administrative process.
