About BRAMS
Established in 1978, Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) was the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia. We are experiencing a phase of expansion, with our client base doubling over the past three years. Our team comprises 15 dedicated Aboriginal health workers who play a crucial role in our efforts to align with our care model and work cohesively with the rest of our team.
Our Opportunities
Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) now has an exciting opportunity for full-time, part-time, and flexible Social Workers to join the multidisciplinary healthcare team in Broome, WA, collaborating closely with both internal and external service providers to enhance the health outcomes of our Aboriginal community.
You will have a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers by providing person-centred social work support, across various programs.
As an Aged and Disability Social Worker you will have the opportunity to provide personalised support to frail aged people and individuals with disabilities. Additionally, you will support the delivery of groups within the Psychosocial team as a Psychosocial Social Worker, provide crisis interventions and safety planning for Aboriginal women and families as a Family and Domestic Violence Social Worker, and offer both individual and group-based services across several programs as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.
These roles also offer the chance to gain experience in remote areas, including Fitzroy Crossing, giving you the opportunity to grow your skills in a diverse and challenging environment, taking on a new adventure.

About You
With a relevant tertiary qualification, you will also bring a current registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Accredited Mental Health Social Workers will also possess a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). In addition, you should thrive in a team environment and prioritise collaboration over isolation. A solutions-focused mindset and a willingness to take on varied work, regardless of whether it is structured or non-structured, are essential qualities for this position.
Your commitment to the principles of primary health care and your comprehensive understanding of the health concerns impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities will be critical to the success of this role. Flexibility in your approach to care is also essential to ensure that patients receive the best possible treatment and support.
As a collaborative team member with exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, you are able to flexibly adapt to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Compassion and dedication are paramount as a self-motivated professional passionate about your chosen field.
Prior to commencement, you will need to have a National Police Clearance, Current Working With Children Check (WWCC), a Current Driver’s License, and the ability to drive to communities as required. You must also be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
