About Us

The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service which has been caring for the Broome community for more than 40 years. When we first opened our doors in 1978, BRAMS was the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia.

BRAMS provides comprehensive, holistic and culturally responsive primary health care, social and emotional wellbeing services, and NDIS support to Aboriginal people living in Broome. BRAMS delivers more than 40,000 occasions of service each year. BRAMS delivers services in accordance with our Model of Care.

Key Responsibilities

As a Family Support Worker you can have a life-changing impact on young children and their families. 

You will implement the NDIS Early Childhood Approach to support Aboriginal children under seven years of age who have a developmental delay or disability, and their families. You will support families to help children develop the skills they need to take part in daily activities, reach their potential, and achieve the best possible outcomes throughout their life.

This will include providing information and linkages to the Kimberley Supports Allied Health team and other community support services providing early connections and early supports, and assisting families to request access to the NDIS where appropriate.

What You Will Bring to the Team

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Service.
  • Must hold and maintain a current Australian issued Driver’s License.

Desirable  

  • Previous experience within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Service.
  • Certificate III in Individual Support or willingness to obtain.
  • Proven ability to communicate and work effectively with a range of Aboriginal language and family groups. 
  • Experience in local community and Aboriginal culture. 
  • Ability and experience working collaboratively and within a team environment.
  • Ability to support the delivery of programs to individuals and small groups.
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level integrity in maintaining community and organisational confidentiality.

Employment Screening: 

Employees are required to demonstrate that they have undergone appropriate employment screening in accordance with BRAMS Employment Screening Policy, including:

  • National Police Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Employee Medical Assessment
  • Influenza Vaccine. 
  • Safeguarding Children Declaration
  • Identification Verification
  • Drivers License Verification Check
  • NDIS Worker Screening

  • Base salary of $75,500 (pro rata)
